Rabies in Bolivia

Authorities in Santa Cruz department of Central Bolivia have reported a sharp increase in the numbers of dogs and cats carrying rabies. A vaccination programme for feral animals is being planned, and pet owners are being urged to have their animals vaccinated as well. Bolivia is considered a high risk area for rabies – travellers should consider being vaccinated against rabies before going to Bolivia.
